A Brief Introduction
Youth In Need is a project that is working towards improving the lives of young people affected by poverty in the Arusha region of Tanzania.
The project is based in a rented house in the district of Monduli, approx. 40km from Arusha. A number of street youth and Maasai are attending the centre, where they are taught carpentry skills.
In Tanzania, the project is focussed upon the needs of both street youth and youth from the Maasai community.
Our aim is to offer them:
- protection
- accommodation
- education
- health care
- counselling
- family mediation
- vocational training
The project also works to raise awareness and strengthen working relationships between all aspects of the local community in Arusha - and ultimately, to empower and support those initiatives that meet the needs of this vulnerable group of young people.
